OUR PAST IS A KEY TO THE FUTURE

They were the first to come here as soon as earth released itself from ices. This Earth welcomed and sheltered them as its own children: it fed them, it taught them, it raised their spirit. Time passed and a special bond was established between the Earth and the Man.

In return for their respect and love those people were admitted to the cycle of life and harmony. Like trees, they put their roots down here. Those people grew and thrived and each of them was different, yet equally strong. Life cycle was the same for everyone and there was nothing more people needed. And so they lived for millenia, passing their respect for their Earth and Ancestors from generation to generation.

Through customs and celebrations, through songs and tales, through legends and lores our Ancestors passed a message about themselves and this is the greatest gift we could have ever received.

This message made its way through wars and traps, through highest walls and deepest pitfalls. It fought, it raised rebellions, it went undercover with partisans and kept smouldering in the free hearts of unfree people. For that we should be grateful to the strength and power of will of our Ancestors.

This message from our Ancestors is an opportunity to glance at times when they lived their golden age in harmony with the Earth. They passed this message so that we could understand our Earth the way they did and rediscover the ancient wisdom of life.

We seek to know the way our Ancestors – the Baltic tribes – lived at the dawn of  the state of Lithuania, VII-XIII ages, when each tribe had its own identity and led its unique way of life living close to other tribes, yet in clearly separated lands.

We attempt to get familiar with our origins so as to reestablish a bond with the Earth and Ancestors. In order to feel their daily life, we reconstruct their dressing, items and customs. We fight in their armour and with their weapons so as to experience what our Ancestors did. We walk in their footsteps in attempt to perceive their outlook.

By participating in various events, organizing festivals and giving lectures we try to acquaint people, especially the young, with the sources of our nation. Due to their ecological outlook ancient people managed to lead a sedentary life for almost 13 000 years in this relatively small land, which is worth admiration. Inspired by our Ancestors we hope to raise the love of young people for our homeland. This is the only way to pass the Ancestors’ message to future generations.
